和泉真澄は、同志社大学グローバル地域文化学部アメリカコース教授。東京生まれ、
京都育ち。専門は、日系アメリカ人・日系カナダ人の歴史。滋賀県立膳所高校卒業。
東京外国語大学外国語学部英米語学科卒業後、カナダのクイーンズ大学で政治学の修
士号（M .A .）を取得。1995年に同志社大学大学院アメリカ研究科博士課程に入学
、2004年に博士（アメリカ研究）の学位を取得。2000年から同志社大学言語文化教育
研究センター専任講師として英語を教え始め、2013年より現職。主著は単著『日系ア
メリカ人強制収容と緊急拘禁法―人種・自由・治安をめぐる記憶と葛藤』（明石書店
、2009年）（この本は英語版がTemple University Pressから2019年に出ました。）、
単著『日系カナダ人の移動と運動―知られざる日本人の越境生活史』（小鳥遊書房
、2020年）、ミチコ・ミッヂ・アユカワ著・和泉真澄訳『カナダへ渡った広島移民―
移住の始まりから真珠湾攻撃前夜まで』（明石書店、2012年）。
Masumi Izumi is a professor in the Department of Global and Regional Studies at
Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan, where she teaches North American studies. Izumi
researches Japanese American and Japanese Canadian wartime experiences as well
as their post-internment communities and trans-Pacific migration and has written
numerous articles on these topics in English and Japanese. She authored The Rise
and Fall of America’s Concentration Camp Law: Civil Liberties Debates from the
Internment to McCarthyism and the Radical 1960s and also contributed an article on a
Japanese Canadian baseball team to an edited volume, The Subject(s) of Human
Rights: Crises, Violations, and Asian/American Critique; both were published by
Temple University Press in 2019. In 2020, Izumi published the first comprehensive
history of Japanese Canadians in Japanese, titled Nikkei Kanada-jin no Idou to Undou:
Shirarezaru Nihon-jin no Ekkyou Seikatsu Shi [The Japanese Canadian Movement:
The Little-Known Trans-Pacific History of Japanese Migration and Activism] (Takanashi
Shobo, 2020).
