Paul Kariya is the son of Takeo Kariya who was a salmon fisherman, born in Steveston Canada but raised in Mio – Wakayama. Paul and Takeo fished together out of Ucluelet on Vancouver Island. Paul has a PhD in geography from Clark University in Massachusetts. In his career Paul has been a university professor, public servant, renewable energy consultant and television actor and fisherman. He is married to Diana and has 3 adult sons and 3 grand children.
